Class 6-9 We Love Reading: తెలుగు కథ :రాజు గారి తీర్పు
పూర్వం ఒక గ్రామంలో నందు, చందు అనే ఇద్దరు స్నేహితులున్నారు. వారు వ్యాపారం చేసి ధనం సంపాదించుకొని రావాలని ఇల్లు విడిచి వెళ్ళారు. దారిలో వారికి ధనంతో నిండి ఉన్న బిందె ఒకటి దొరికింది. దానిని తీసుకొని ఇద్దరూ ఆ ధనాన్ని చెరిసగం తీసుకుందామని ఇళ్ళకు బయలుదేరారు
పగలైతే ఎవరైనా చూస్తారని రాత్రివేళ ఊరి బయట ఒక చెట్టు కింద వారు ఆబిందెను పాతి పెట్టి ఏదో ఒకరోజు మరల అదే విధంగా ఇద్దరూ వచ్చి బిందెను తీసుకొని పోవచ్చని, వారు నిర్ణయించుకొని ఎవరి ఇళ్ళకు వారు వెళ్ళారు.
చందుకి ఆశ పెరిగింది. ఆ ధనం మొత్తం తానొక్కడే కాజేయాలనుకున్నాడు. ఒకనాటి రాత్రి ఒక్కడే వెళ్ళి ఆ బిందెను తెచ్చుకొని ఇంటిలో పెట్టుకున్నాడు. కొన్నాళ్ళ తర్వాత నందు వచ్చి "మిత్రమా! మనం దాచిన ధనం గల బిందెను తెచ్చుకుందాం రా' అన్నాడు.
చందు అతని వెంట బయలుదేరి వెళ్ళాడు. ఇద్దరూ చెట్టు కింద తవ్వారు. ఎంత తవ్వినా ఎంత వెదికినా బిందె కనపడలేదు. ధనం బిందెను నీవు దొంగలించావు అంటే లేదు నీవు దొంగలించావు అని వాదించుకొన్నారు.
రాజు వద్దకు న్యాయానికి వెళ్ళారు. రాజు ఉభయుల వాదన విన్నాడు. రాజు రేపు ఆ చెట్టు వద్దకు వచ్చి నేను ఆచెట్టును ఎవరు దొంగలించారో అడిగి తెలుసుకొంటాను. అప్పుడు న్యాయం చెబుతాను అన్నాడు.
చందు ఇంటికి వచ్చి తన తండ్రికి రాజుగారి కొలువులో జరిగిన సంగతి వివరించి, "నాన్న! నీవు చెట్టు తొర్రలో కూర్చొని నందు దొంగలింఛాడు అని ఒక్క మాట చెప్పినట్లయితే ఈ ధనమంతయు మనదే అగును. నందుకు శిక్ష పడును.” అని అంటాడు.
మరుసటిరోజు రాజు చెట్టు వద్దకు వచ్చేలోపు చందు వాళ్ళ నాన్న వచ్చి చెట్టు తొర్రలో దాక్కున్నాడు. రాజు, నందు, చందు, ప్రజలు అందరూ రానేవచ్చారు. రాజు చెట్టును చూస్తూ చెట్టూ.. చెట్టూ.. ఇక్కడ దాచిన ధనం ఎవరు దొంగలించారు అని అనగానే చెట్టు తొర్రలో నుంచి "ఇచట దాచిన ధనము నందుయే కాజేశాడు. చందుకి ఏమీ తెలియదు" అనే మాటలు వినిపించాయి
రాజుకు చందునే దొంగలించి ఇలా చెప్పిస్తున్నాడని అర్థమయ్యింది. భటులచే నీరు తెప్పించి చెట్టు తొర్రలో పోయిస్తాడు. తొర్రలో కూర్చొని ఉన్న చందు వాళ్ళ నాన్న ఊపిరాడక బయటకు వచ్చి జరిగిన నిజం చెబుతాడు. రాజు చందుని శిక్షిస్తాడు. నందుకు ఆధనం ఇస్తాడు.

Once, in a village, two friends named Nandu and Chandu set out on a journey to do business and earn money. Along the way, they discovered a jar full of money. Taking it, both friends decided to split the money in half when they returned home back. They buried the jar under a tree outside the village at night, planning to return together one day to retrieve it.
Chandu, however, had other plans. He wanted to keep all the money for himself. One night, he went alone, retrieved the jar, and brought it to his house. Years later, when Nandu came back, he suggested retrieving the buried money together.
As they dug under the tree, they couldn't find the jar. The argument ensued, with each accusing the other of stealing the money. [This is copied from www.apteachers.in website] They decided to seek justice from the king.
The king listened to both sides and proposed a solution. He declared that they would meet at the tree the next day, and he would ask the tree itself who the thief was. Chandu, worried about being caught, confided in his father, who hatched a plan to save his son.
The following day, before the king arrived, Chandu's father concealed himself in the tree trunk. As everyone gathered, including Nandu and Chandu, the king examined the tree, who had stolen the hidden money. Suddenly, a voice echoed from the tree, "Nandu stole the money; Chandu is innocent."
The king knew what is going on.
He ordered his servants to pour water to the trunk of the tree. With in seconds Chandu's father who is sitting in the trunk came out and what happened. The king punished Chandu.
